Can non-Muslims enter a mosque?

Yes. Most mosques welcome visitors. It’s best to contact the mosque beforehand and follow their guidelines for respectful behaviour.

 

Visitors are usually greeted warmly. Modest clothing is expected, shoes are removed before entering the prayer hall, and photography may be restricted.

A simple “Hello” is fine. You may also use “As-salāmu ʿalaykum,” which means peace be upon you.

 

It’s best to avoid sensitive subjects such as politics, controversial religious debates, or personal questions about faith until you know the person well.

 

Muslims pray five times a day. Visiting a mosque during prayer time is allowed, but it’s courteous to observe quietly from designated areas.
